How to make chocolate orange popcorn
Step 1:Put your popped popcorn into a large mixing bowl.
Step 2: Melt the white chocolate chips and shortening in a microwave safe bowl or measuring cup.
Step 3: Microwave at 20 second intervals stirring in between each cooking time until completely melted.
Step 4: Pour over the popcorn and gently stir until all popcorn is covered with white chocolate.
Step 5: Place on a cookie sheet that has been lined with parchment paper. Cool slightly. You could also use tin foil if you don’t have parchment paper.
Step 6: Cut each orange stick into fourths and sprinkle over the popcorn on the cookie sheet.
Step 7: Cut each orange slice into thirds and sprinkle over the orange sticks.
Step 8: Roughly chop 1/2 of the chocolate orange and sprinkle over the top of the orange slices.
Step 9: Toss gently with your hands until the candy is all mixed in with the popcorn. You could also use a spatula or large spoon to toss, but it have found it works best when I use my hands (pre-washed of course)
Step 10: Melt the rest of the chocolate orange in a microwave safe bowl until melted. Drizzle over all of the popcorn mixture.
Step 11: Let set for about 1 hour for the melted chocolate orange to set up.

What if I don’t have a popcorn maker?
If you don’t have a popcorn maker, no stress. I have made this with microwavable popcorn and it was delicious and tasted exactly the same.
If you can’t find plain or unseasoned or buttered popcorn at the store, this recipe goes great with microwavable kettle corn. In fact.. it’s almost better than air popped popcorn.
The sweet and salty flavor tastes amazing with the white chocolate and orange flavors.
How do I make this a neighbor gift?
It’s not the holidays without neighbor treats and gifts. This is our new go-to. It is cheap, delicious, and quick. I love the holidays, but I don’t want to spend them in the kitchen so I am all for quick.
We put about 1-2 cups of this Chocolate Orange Popcorn into a cellophane bag with a little note that says:
-“Just popping in to say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!”
-“Hoping your holidays are poppin'”
-“This may be “corny” but just wanted to wish you a sweet and Merry Christmas”
Cliche, we know. But who doesn’t love a cheesy holiday one-liner?
