Why We Love Mimosas and Bellinis

Let’s be honest, I love anything with sparkling wine. Mimosas and Bellinis are serious favorites. Fruity, pretty, girly, yum.

  • Mimosas: The classic drink is made with orange juice and prosecco.
  • Bellinis: The classic drink is made with peach nectar, but we’re DIY-ing it! You’ll need frozen sliced peaches, agave nectar (or another liquid sweetener), water, and prosecco.

It’s so easy to set up your own mimosa bar, and I promise you it will be super popular! It’s a wonderful way to add some fun and color to your party!

Mimosa Bar Ideas

I used a mix of flavors for my mimosas and bellinis with pineapple, peach, strawberry, and blackberry puree, but you can choose whatever flavors you want. Some I can’t wait to try next time are mango, clementine, raspberry, or even kiwi. The choice is entirely yours to make!

A mimosa bar is the perfect DIY for your next party. All you need is prosecco (or champagne) and fruit juices and purees.

What’s the difference between mimosas and Bellinis?

Mimosas are made with orange juice, while bellinis are made with peach nectar or puree.

What kind of alcohol is good for mimosas?

I like prosecco, but champagne or sparkling wine also works well.

Can you make the purees with fresh fruit?

I much prefer to use frozen fruits for this mimosa bar. It means you can serve the drinks straight away as they are nice and chilled and I find it much more convenient and budget friendly. You can make them with fresh fruits if you have them to hand.

Are mimosas high in alcohol?

Mimosas and bellinis typically have as much alcohol as prosecco, so around 12%.

  • I used agave nectar to sweeten the purees, but any liquid sweetener will work well.
  • Have fun with the garnishes! Lay out your bellini bar with sprigs of fresh herbs and fruits so that people can decorate their own glasses.
  • Enjoy and drink responsibly!

    FAQs

What is the difference between mimosa and Bellinis? ›

Both are made with Champagne or sparkling wine and just one other ingredient — orange juice in mimosas, and peach puree in Bellinis. Though two very simple co*cktails to make, their journey to becoming the drink of choice at brunch are two different paths.

What mixture was the original Bellini? ›

In fact, inspired by the region's fragrant white peaches and world-famous sparkling wine, the barman invented the Bellini. Cipriani's recipe calls to gently stir two parts Prosecco and one part fresh peach pureé, served in a chilled flute.

How many bottles of Prosecco do you need for a mimosa bar? ›

How Much You'll Need. You can make 6-8 mimosas out of every standard 750 ml bottle of sparkling wine, so for a party of 20 people where each guest will have two or three drinks we recommend buying about 6-8 bottles of prosecco.

How much alcohol is in a Bellini? ›

How Strong Is a Bellini? The Bellini is great for brunch because it is a low-proof co*cktail. It's really no stronger than the average glass of sparkling wine, even a little less because of the puree. On average, the Bellini's alcohol content is just 7 percent ABV (14 proof).

    Is mimosa a woman's drink? ›

What Prosecco is best for Bellinis? ›

One of the best Proseccos for Mimosas is Pasqua 'Romeo and Juliet' Prosecco because it's made in a very dry 'Brut' style. That means when you mix it with orange juice it won't taste too sweet. Meanwhile, for Bellinis, consider La Marca 'Extra Dry' Prosecco.

What alcohol goes in a peach Bellini? ›

The peach Bellini was created in Venice, Italy, so the classic wine choice is prosecco, a dry sparkling Italian white wine. Any sparkling wine will do, including a sparkling rosé wine! Can you make a Bellini with frozen peaches? Absolutely!

What is the best orange juice for mimosas? ›

When it comes to orange juice for mimosas, the fresher the better. Look for brands that use 100% pure squeezed orange juice without any added preservatives or artificial flavors. Some popular brands include Indian River Select, Florida's Natural, and Natalie's.

Which Prosecco is best for mimosas? ›

    Best for Mimosas: Caposaldo Prosecco

Especially since orange juice (or peach puree if you're making a bellini) has a natural sweetness, combining it with a wine on the drier side will create a balanced drink that's not cloying.

What kind of juice do you put in a mimosa bar? ›

The Best Fruit Juices for Mimosas

Because they have a good acid-to-sweetness balance and hold their flavor, orange, grapefruit, and cranberry are juice must-haves, while pineapple, pomegranate, passion fruit, mango, and guava make for some exciting twists on the traditional juice menu.

Is Prosecco a strong alcohol? ›

Does prosecco have more alcohol or calories than other types of wine? The strength of prosecco is usually around 12%, which means that it contains 12% pure alcohol. That's around the same amount of alcohol typically found in other sparkling wines, like champagne or cava.

Is Bellini a girly drink? ›

While the Bellini has a reputation for being a bit of a girly drink, we think that's an old-fashioned idea—this is a co*cktail that anyone can enjoy. Invented in 1945 at Harry's Bar in Venice, Italy, the Bellini was originally created to get rid of an excess of peaches bartender Giuseppe Cipriani had on hand.

What does Bellini mean in Italian? ›

Bellini is a gender-neutral name of Italian origin, meaning “little beautiful one.” This endearingly sweet and loving name can serve as a perfect reminder for your little one wherever they go.

What is the difference between a peach mimosa and a peach Bellini? ›

    Peach Bellini co*cktail recipe

The Peach Bellini is a peach co*cktail recipe similar to the mimosa. Mimosas are made with orange juice and champagne, and bellinis are made with peach juice and prosecco. They're fruity, fizzy and have just the right amount of sweetness. They are worthy of a place at your next brunch.

Why are Bellinis called Bellinis? ›

History. The Bellini was invented sometime between 1934 and 1948 by Giuseppe Cipriani, founder of Harry's Bar in Venice, Italy. He named the drink the Bellini because its unique pink color reminded him of the toga of a saint in a painting by 15th-century Venetian artist Giovanni Bellini.

Is a mimosa Prosecco or Champagne? ›

Prosecco is often recommended as a substitute for Champagne in mimosas, and Prosecco's fruitier profile can be nice in a sparkling co*cktail. However, I think Cava, a sparkling wine made in Spain, works best for mimosas. Not only does it come closest to tasting like Champagne, but it's also generally less expensive.
