Why you'll love this puppy chow Chex recipe
Puppy Chow is made with any variety of Chex, chocolate, peanut butter and powdered sugar. The combination of these ingredients makes the flavor of this treat impossible to resist.
Ingredients
- rice Chex cereal
- semi-sweet chocolate chips
- creamy peanut butter
- butter
- vanilla
- powdered sugar
How to make a puppy chow snack
To make this Puppy Chow recipe, pour 9 cups of Chex into a large bowl and set aside.
Then, combinechocolate chips, ½ cup peanut butter, butter and vanilla in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave at 30 second intervals until the ingredientshave melted.
Stir the ingredients until the mixture is smooth with a rubber spatula.
Pour the peanut butter mixture over the 9 cups rice Chex. Stir until the Chex is evenly coated.
Kids can help with the stirring provided the bowl is cool and they do not touch the peanut butter mixture, which can be hot.
Take two large zip-top bags and place ¾ cup of powdered sugar into each large zip-top bag.
Add the Chex to the bags, seal carefully, and shake, shake, shake! This is my kid's favorite part. Just make sure you have sealed the bag first or you will have a powdered sugar mess everywhere. While you have your powdered sugar out, you might want to try making these Powdered Sugar Zeppoles.!
Pour the Chex onto a cookie sheet to allow it to set and harden.
Once it has set, it is ready to serve. Pour some into bowls or divide into goody bags for a party treat.
I love to serve this Puppy Chow at gathering, though if you do, keep in mind that it goes fast. You might want to make a double batch!
