Texas A&M baseball vs Kentucky final score: Big sixth inning helps Aggies to College World Series win (2024)

advanced to the College World Series semifinals, but it came with a cost.

In the sixth inning, Aggies star outfielder Jace LaViolette exited the game with an apparent hamstring injury. The Aggies right fielder held the back of his right hamstring in the top half of the inning after going from first to third on a double from Jackson Appel. LaViolette is the second Aggies outfielder to have gotten hurt in recent weeks, after star centerfielder Braden Montgomery sustained a season-ending lower leg injury in the super regional round.

While LaViolette's exit is a big storyline, it wasn't the only one of the No. 3 national seed Aggies' 5-1 win over No. 2 Kentucky — with the other ones being happier.

Much like the Aggies' second super regional game vs. Oregon, Texas A&M's offense unloaded in the sixth inning, as Jim Schlossnagle's squad hit through the lineup scoring five runs on three hits in the frame. Hayden Schott (two), Avilo Camarillo (one) and Kaeden Kent (two) were credited for the RBIs on a single, double and single, respectively.

One explosive inning was all Texas A&M needed Monday thanks to a stellar outing from Ryan Prager, as the Aggies' southpaw became the third pitcher at the CWS since 2011 to bring a no-hitter through 6 2/3 innings. He finished with four strikeouts in 6 2/3 scoreless innings.

With the win, the Aggies moved to 2-0 at the CWS for the first time in program history, locking up its spot in Wednesday's CWS semifinals. Texas A&M will face the winner of Tuesday's elimination game between No. 2 Kentucky vs. Florida.
